Joliet Catholic Academy National Art Honor Society Announces Year-Round Pop Tab Collection Drive

The Joliet Catholic Academy National Art Honor Society is excited to announce a year-round service project collecting aluminum pop tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities. Collection containers will be available at all home sporting events and in the main office throughout the school year.

This project is especially meaningful to the JCA community because of Riley Shanahan, the younger brother of JCA students Makenna and TJ Shanahan. Riley was born with a rare brain malformation, and over the years, the Shanahan family has stayed at the Ronald McDonald House more than ten times while Riley received specialized medical care. The Ronald McDonald House provided them with a safe and supportive place to stay close to the hospital, easing the burden during difficult times.

Inspired by Riley’s story, JCA’s National Art Honor Society wants to give back by collecting pop tabs. These small pieces of aluminum may seem insignificant, but when combined, they can make a meaningful difference in helping families like the Shanahan’s. The funds raised through recycling pop tabs support Ronald McDonald House Charities, which continue to provide comfort and care for countless families in need.

How you can help:

· Save aluminum pop tabs from cans at home

· Bring them to school and drop them off in the main office or at sporting events

· Encourage friends, family, and neighbors to join the effort

At Joliet Catholic Academy, we believe service is at the heart of our mission. Together, we can honor Riley’s journey, support the Ronald McDonald House, and remind our community that small acts of kindness like saving a pop tab add up to something powerful.
